Indigenous Peoples' Global Summit on Climate Change (Anchorage, Alaska, USA)

From April 20-24, 2009 in Anchorage, Alaska, USA, the United Nations University - Institute of Advanced Studies Traditional Knowledge Initiative assisted the Inuit Circumpolar Council and other partners to convene the Indigenous Peoples' Global Summit on Climate Change.

As part of the summit, a series of short UNU-produced videos exploring climate change and its impacts from the perspectives of indigenous communities in Australia, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea were shown at a special screening.

International Women's Day 2009 Public Forum Held at UNU

On Friday, 6 March, the United Nations University joined with 15 other UN agencies in Japan to commemorate International Women's Day by holding a joint public forum on the theme "Women and Men: United to End Violence against Women".
