Launch of UNU-IAS Report - MDG 7 Target to Reduce the Rate of Loss of Biodiversity

United Nations University, in collaboration with the United Nations University Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS) was proud to launch a recently published report entitled:

"MDG on Reducing Biodiversity Loss and the CBD's 2010 Target"

The Report was launched to an intimate crowd of policy-makers and academics in the DESA Conference Room at UN Headquarters in New York, as a sideline event to the High Level Event on the MIllennium Development Goals.

The Report highlights the links between the CBD 2010 targets and the MDG target on reducing biodiversity loss; it also identifies the challenges being faced by countries in responding to these targets from different perspectives and provides some policy options for consideration by MDG practitioners.

With the limited focus on MDG 7, in particular Target 7 B, as detailed in the MDG National Reports 2008, the launch of this Report and the panel discussion are not only a timely but a much needed addition to current debates.

Agenda:
17.30 - Welcome by Jean-Marc Coicaud, Director of UNU Office in New York

17.40 - Presentation of the Report "MDG on reducing Biodiversity Loss and the CBD's 2010 Target" by authors Balakrishna Pisupati, United Nations Environment Programme, and Renata Rubian, United Nations Development Programme.

17.55 - Launch of the Report

18.00 - Discussion

18.45 - Concluding Remarks

More information about the Report, including a Press Release, is available for download HERE
