INTERNSHIPS AT UNU-ONY


Announcement Flyer Spring 2008 | Former UNU-ONY Interns | Internships within the UN System 

UNU-ONY's internship programme has been renamed, Junior Professional Fellows programme to reflect the responsibility and opportunity given to those accepted into this programme.

Fellowship opportunities are available at the United Nations University Office at the United Nations, New York, in two periods: from August through January, and from February through July. UNU-ONY does not offer summer fellowships.

The fellowships are unpaid.

The responsibilities of the Junior Professional Fellows range widely, encompassing aspects of all of UNU-ONY's work. Event organizing, marketing and fundraising can be mentioned among these. The UNU-ONY, in its work, mainly liaises with the UN Secretariat, the Permanent Missions, academia and foundations.

Qualifications required:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
  • Strong writing and research skills
  • Knowledge of at least two official UN languages desirable (preferably French or Spanish)
  • MA within relevant subjects preferred

Application procedure:

Collect the following application materials:
  • Complete the Fellowship application form
  • Resume/CV
  • Cover letter (please state the 2 teams which are preferred, for more info see the "Announcement Flyer Spring 2008")
  • 1 - 3 page writing sample in English
  • 1 - 3 page writing sample in another language of your choice (preferably French or Spanish)
  • Two letters of recommendation

Submit these materials, as one package, in the period listed below. Applications submitted farther in advance, or later than the deadline, may not be reviewed.

  • For fellowship period beginning in August - submit materials between April 1 and May 31
  • For fellowship period beginning in February - submit materials between October 1 and November 30
