The United
Nations University (UNU) in collaboration with the United
Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and
the Permanent Mission of the Philippines is organizing a Midday Forum
event entitled: “Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue: The
Pathway to Peace”. The
topic will be presented in two parts; the first part will discuss
Intercultural Dialogue, and the second part will focus on Interreligious
Dialogue.
During
the seminar, Mrs. Rochelle Roca Hachem (Programme
Specialist at the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural
Organization, Office in New York) will emphasize the role played by
UNESCO in promoting intercultural dialogue, and how important it is to
reach peace. Mr. Lesli Gatan's presentation
(Deputy Permanent Representative,
Permanent Mission of the
Philippines to the UN)
will consist of a
brief account of the evolution of interfaith dialogue at the UN, at the
regional level as well as at the national level.
