Call for applications for new Regional Centres of Expertise (RCE) on Education for Sustainable Development.
23 February, 2009
The United Nations University is now calling for applications for new Regional Centres of Expertise (RCE) on Education for Sustainable Development.
The Ubuntu Alliance, in its meeting in April 2006 in Yokohama, established the Committee of Peers for RCEs. This Committee reviews applications for new RCEs and provides recommendations to UNU during the RCE acknowledgement process. The United Nations University - Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS) acts as Secretariat of the Ubuntu Alliance. Sixty-one RCEs have so far been acknowledged globally.
Those organisations who are interested in initiating the RCE process and applying for RCE status are requested to send expressions of interest to UNU-IAS by 15 April 2009.
RCEs are then requested to submit an application and an application summary by 15 June 2009. The Secretariat will communicate with the applicants in July and August, so that applications can be developed in time for the Ubuntu Committee Meeting in the last quarter of this year.
UNU does not require that a specific application format be followed. Applications can be sent in any format, as long as all the required information is provided. Please refer to the guidelines for RCE application and the UNU-IAS websitefor full details.
