UNU Rector Meets with the Japanese Minister of Environment

Rector Konrad Osterwalder and Vice-Rectors Govindan Parayil and Kazuhiko Takeuchi met with the Minister of Environment, Tetsuo Saito, today to discuss further cooperation between UNU and the Ministry of Environment.
The Rector and Minister Saito discussed several ongoing projects, including the Regional Centres of Expertise (RCE), the Network for the Promotion of Sustainability in Postgraduate Education and Research (ProSPER.NET), the Global Environment Information Centre (GEIC), and the Satoyama Initiative Project at UNU-IAS.
The two also discussed the secondment of ministry research personnel to UNU, as well as how the university can contribute to the government's preparations for the Tenth Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity to be held in Nagoya in 2010.
